  1. Part Two – Group Disaster task

    Part 2: YOU WILL CONTINUE WITH YOUR GROUP INQUIRY. BELOW ARE THE TASKS YOU MUST COMPLETE By next week.

    Natural Disaster: what is the natural disaster that affects your area? Research what causes your natural disaster.

    News Article/Report:  create a news headline article or news report documenting your natural disaster. You can use the newspaper template on Pages or video your report on iMovie. Include a picture of your natural disaster, name your newspaper in relation to your area (eg. Melbourne Times) and document what happened.

    Disaster Recovery Kit: what are the items that you will include in your disaster recovery kit? Think about what the three of you had listed for homework last week. Encourage your group members to bring along real items from home or magazine pictures to represent your items (please ask your parents if you are bringing items from home!).

    GROUP INQUIRY. BELOW ARE THE TASKS

    YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS WEEK:

     

    Map: produce a map of your disaster affected area. Your map could be a coastal, desert or city area – think about the geographical features of your area – your area should coincide with your natural disaster.  Draw infrastructure on your map – think about what you need in terms of surviving a natural disaster. You will need to get your map off Google Maps.

    Population: what is the population of your town/area? What are the dwellings that people live in?     Communication: how will people communicate in the event of an emergency?

    Resources available: what are the resources available in the event of an emergency? What can you provide? Who can you call if no one in your town can help?

    Disaster recovery/ad for event of emergency:  how will you notify those around you about the disaster?
