    Now and Then

    In 1908 the Olympic Games were held in London, that’s just over 100 years ago. Then, just after World War 2 they were again in London in 1948

    Here are the results from some track events;


    100 metres 10.8 secs

    200 metres 22.6 secs

    400 metres 50.0 secs

    800 metres 112 secs

    1500 metres 240 secs


    100 metres 10.3 secs

    200 metres 21.1 secs

    400 metres 46.2 secs

    800 metres 109 secs

    1500 metres 229 secs

    The 2012 London Olympics were another 64 years later.

    Predict the times for each event in 2012.

    Now search the results for the 2012 games.

    How did the results differ?

    Could you have predicted the results?

    Perhaps more importantly, what’s the reason for your answer?

    What about the results for 2016, what would you predict?

  6. Week 5- Reminders

    Good evening 5R, just a couple of reminders for Monday-

    *Sports Team Photos- All sports teams will have their photo taken on Monday, so please come prepared with your sports uniform.

    *Homework- Mr Richo will be back, so let’s welcome him home with a 100% homework return.  Remember to keep up the high standard of work that was achieved this week.

    *Sausage sizzle money- Please bring in your $2.00 for the Grade 5 election day sausage sizzle.

    Thanks again for welcoming me into your grade over the last 4 weeks, I enjoyed working with you all.  I was impressed with the knowledge you already had about your Inquiry topic and the interest you have shown in finding out more about government and leadership.  I look forward to stopping by in the next few weeks to see how your class election goes and what parties you form and what your party proposes.  Keep up the great work, and come up and say hi if you see me around the school.   7. Inquiry- A to Z of leadership/government

    Select a recent newspaper, and with a partner count how many news articles you can find that relate to leadership and/or government. Once you have tallied this information, use these articles to locate words to make an A to Z list of relevant words. If you need assistance/suggestions for words refer to the AEC website

    Make a word shape using the TAGUL website.

    Type up your a-z leadership words from the newspaper and the AEC site in the table on the TAGUL website. (You will need to remove the words already in the table- word/cloud)

    Select your image (shape that you want)

    You can also customise according to fonts/ colours etc.
